Scattered storms late Sunday, with clearing overnight

Scattered showers/storms continue late Sunday, with clearing overnight. Sunny skies return Monday.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: Meteorologist Laurann Robinson

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

Scattered showers/storms continue Sunday night. Spotty storms are likely across the front range, with quick downpours, lightning and thunder being the only concerns. Storms across central and southern portions of the eastern plains are under a Marginal risk for severe weather, and could become stronger. We'll watch for medium-hail, heavy downpours, gusty winds, lightning and thunder. All showers will move out overnight, with lows in the middle 40s.

Monday, we'll get lots of sunshine, allowing afternoon temperatures to reach the middle 70s! Midday, scattered showers push in from the west, mostly covering the western slope and high country. A few showers could spill into the front range, with a pop-up storm possible, but no storms are expected to become severe.

Tuesday will be even warmer, as highs soar into the upper 70s, with more afternoon sunshine. But we'll watch for another round of late-day storms.

A cool front will push in for Wednesday, bringing more cloud cover and rain showers throughout the day. Afternoon highs fall into the lower 60s.

The cooler weather only lasts one day, as we're back in the 70s, Thursday. We'll start the day with early, lingering cloud cover, and spotty afternoon storms, but clear skies will return by Thursday night.

As we move into next weekend, sunny, warm weather returns! Highs will be approaching 80 degrees Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with only slight chances for showers.
